Our participant joined the eMploY-ABILITY project through the Ferry Project Job Club after talking to the Employment Team. He had been economically inactive for 13 years, leaving school with no qualifications and had not ever been in paid employment.
Our participant has a mild learning disability and was very low in confidence, relying on his mum to attend appointments and take him to locations. After attending one to one sessions with our Key Worker, Julie, he joined the Work Experience Induction programme at the Ferry Project and completed 3 weeks of work experience at the Queen Mary Community Centre.
He really enjoyed the volunteering and continued to attend stating it has improved his work skill, he socialises and his communication has improved. He has a regular routine and is feeling more motivated.
We are really pleased to say that he also completed Level 1 Maths and Level 2 in English with CambsAL at Wisbech Library where he had great feedback on his commitment and determination.
This led to our participant starting to travel to locations and attending volunteering without any assistance from his mum or Key Worker! He has improved his social network, regularly attending groups.
Our wonderful participant has started the Confidence for Life and Work 6 weeks course and we wish him all the best for the future!
